Mexico City is one of the largest cities in the world, with more than 20 million people living in the metropolitan area. Public transportation is very cheap in Mexico City and it is commonly used by citizens.
The subway system has 11 lines that connect each corner of this wide capital city. It is not advisable for tourists to take the subway during peak hours because it gets really crowded. If you are traveling to Mexico DF, we recommend to download the metro map of Mexico City. The cost of the metro in Mexico City is $3 Mexican peso.
Buses are another option as they offer frequent services with a large coverage, while some small vans carry passengers too but do not have the official license of Public Transportation. Tourists usually take taxis to move around Mexico City, some of these have official license and some don’t, so it is recommended for tourists to ask the taxi man for the ticket to be sure it is a licensed one.
