The Copper Canyon is ideal for practicing extreme sports, such as hiking, rappelling, trekking and mountain biking. There is also a wide variety of vegetation and wild animals for those who like to explore the natural environment.
From the top of the Copper Canyon the landscape is awesome. The Sierra Madre occupies more than 60,000 kilometers square of land, the highest mountains reach up to 3,000 meters, and many rivers which are born in the high woods have sculpted their path on the volcano rocks.
The Sierra Madre is home of the Tarahumara and Raramuri indigenous communities; you can stop by these communities and buy their handmade crafts. There is a historical railroad that goes from Chihuahua to the Pacific Coast passing through 86 tunnels and crossing 39 bridges, going through mountains and narrow passes. Taking this train is an ideal opportunity to admire wonderful views of waterfalls and rivers.
